New England Library Association (NELA) Volunteer Oppurtunities

Description:

Looking to volunteer? We need you! Here are some specific ways you can get involved with NELA:

Join the Information Freedom Committee:

The Information Freedom Committee welcomes some insight into the issues faced in each NE state and what the NELA IFC can do to help. The overall time commitment is pretty minimal, and will likely involve either an in-person or virtual meeting every other month. They are especially hoping to find members from non-MA states!

Join the Membership Committee:

The Membership Committee is looking for new members who are interested in assisting with promoting membership in NELA events, compiling and sending out a quarterly newsletter highlighting information from each participating NELA state, and planning various programs for the benefit of the NELA membership! There is one virtual meeting a month and they’d love to “see” more faces. They would really like to have a member from each state in NELA, so please consider volunteering!

Join the Information Technology Section:

The Information Technology Section is looking for new members, as well. ITS promotes the use of information technology in libraries. Members include those interested in computer hardware and software, library media issues, and emerging technologies.

If you are interested in any of the above volunteer opportunities or if you have any questions, please email me at [email protected] and let me know which one so I can connect you with the right person.

NELA has other committees you can join, as well as four active sections! Please check out http://nelib.org/connect/get-involved/ for more opportunities.
