Archivist, St. Paul’s School, Concord, NH

The Archivist provides oversight of the St. Paul’s School Archives, including participating in planning activities, prioritizing archives projects, and advising the Library Director on archives matters. The Archivist organizes and maintains the St. Paul’s School archives, and answers reference questions related to the holdings in the archives. This is a part-time position.

Members of the St. Paul’s School staff are an integral part of the community, supporting the needs of the School’s 500 students and 100 faculty members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Acquires, arranges, describes, catalogs, maintains and preserves, per archival standards and as appropriate, the documents, photographs, publications, multimedia, and other materials documenting the history of St. Paul’s School.
  • Generates monthly and annual reports on the use and development of the archives.
  •  Develops appropriate content for the Library Web page featuring School archives news, acquisitions, and other relevant content.
  • Evaluates the archives collection and makes recommendations for its development and maintenance.
  • Oversees preservation of archival materials when needed.
  • Compiles finding aids, reference guides, and reports.
  • Assists both on and off-campus researchers in conducting research concerning the history of the school, its facilities and grounds, its alumni and its faculty.
  • Curates special exhibits for the School community.
  • Corresponds as appropriate with donors and researchers.

Qualification Requirements:

  • ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library/Information Science.
  •  Knowledge of current and emerging trends in archives services and resources.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working in an archives or library.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a demonstrated commitment to excellent service to a diverse body of users, both internal and external customers.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to find and learn new programs independently.
  • Ability and experience to plan, manage and oversee complex projects, meet deadlines, and to prioritize work in alignment with the service goals of the library and the School.
  •  Ability to think critically, analyze problems, and develop and implement creative solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
