Children’s Librarian, Westfield Athenaeum, Westfield, MA

Description:

An energetic and creative professional is needed for a lively Children’s Library.  This is a full time position with benefits, working 37.5 hours a week.  You will work some weeknights and Saturdays (a flexible schedule is preferred since some hours may change due to staff vacations). Salary is $16.50-$17.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Circulation services.
  • Reference services.
  • Reader’s advisory services.
  • Planning and presenting programming (in person and virtually) for our youngest patrons from infants through fourth grade, which should include (but is not limited to) story-times, book groups, STEM and STEAM programs, decorating bulletin boards, planning a monthly craft, helping to plan the summer/winter reading club program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 2-4 years of experience working with children in a public library setting.
  • Wide knowledge of children’s literature.
  • Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • PC and Internet skills.
  • Google Suite knowledge.
  • Social media skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Team player.
  • Creative, Flexible, and enthusiastic.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task and use time efficiently.
