Business Information Center Intern, Lee Hecht Harrison, Remote

LHH seeks a graduate student in an accredited-MLS program to do basic business reference work for our Business Information Center (BIC) team. You will gain invaluable, hands-on business reference experience working in a highly regarded business library and interact directly with our team of librarians.

The Business Information Center serves the very wide-ranging business reference needs of LHH’s candidates, customers, and staff worldwide. Our primary constituents are senior/c-suite executives in career transition. Our BIC staff plays a critical role in supporting LHH’s ability to deliver outstanding results for our candidates and customers. We pride ourselves on our business reference process, adherence to the highest levels of customer service, creativity, and discretion.

This internship is paid and will be fully remote. This is an open-ended, variable position and can be tailored around a school schedule. This is not a full-time role. Salary is commensurate with qualifications

Duties:

As a valued member of the Business Information Center team you will

  • Support library team by carrying out ready reference, using a range of business reference tools.
  • Conduct telephone reference work.
  • Provide data and material, sorted, structured, and arranged in an agreed-upon format.
  • Curate content on a range of business topics from publicly available resources.

  •  Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office, LinkedIn, and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  •  Attention to detail and well-organized.
  • Ability to work independently.
  •  Demonstrated interest in business librarianship.
  • Familiarity with business reference tools a plus.

Required Education:

  •  BA or equivalent undergraduate degree required with strong academic credentials.
  •  Must be enrolled in an ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS degree program.
  • Must have completed (or be enrolled in) at least one business reference course.
