Lead Archivist, Winthrop Group, Columbus, IN

Description:

The Winthrop Group has an immediate opening for a full-time Lead Archivist to assist in establishing The Heritage Program (Archives and Historical Restoration Center) for a Fortune 500 Company. This is a one-year Winthrop contract with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities:

• Survey collections and determine record groups and series.

• Develop and implement prioritized work plans in accord with approved goals and objectives.

• Evaluate, process and catalog archival collections and artifacts.

• Prepare and/or refine policies and procedures.

• Respond to reference requests from internal and external users.

• Ensure preservation of artifacts and archival resources in all formats.

• Develop a strategy to capture, preserve, and make accessible digital records and audio-visual materials.

• Collaborate with a devoted group of volunteers.

• Prepare regular updates for Project Leader (Director, Global Brand) and collaborate across the Company to increase awareness and use of heritage assets and services.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3-5 years archives experience.

• Excellent written and oral communications skills.

• Familiarity with metadata schemas, preservation standards, and digital archives.

• Previous administrative and supervisory experience.

• Able to manage time effectively, balance multiple priorities, and adjust to changing needs or deadlines.

• Willingness to learn from volunteers, retirees, and other subject area experts.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.

• Possess a “can do” attitude and excellent problem-solving skills.

• Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MLS/MLIS with a concentration in archives or other graduate degree with certificate in Archival Studies or ACA certification.

• Experience in corporate archives.

• Strong commitment to outreach and archival advocacy.

• Knowledge of and/or interest in history of engines, power generation, and

relevant history.
