Job Description

The successful candidate would be independently responsible for ensuring that materials in the stacks of the law library are accurately shelved, supplemented and maintained through both physical management and use of electronic databases and software programs.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Update location guides and stack signs used by patrons of the law library.
  • Identify and resolve problems arising from the arrangement and continuous growth and updating of law library materials.
  • Provide final quality control check over the processing of new materials and the distribution and withdrawal of new and superseded legal materials.
  • Update library catalog records to reflect current library holdings.
  • With other library staff, train, organize work, and supervise students to properly shelve materials.
  • Primarily responsible for opening library T-F, independently responsible for opening library on Saturday.
  • Provide courteous services to users at library circulation/reserve/information desk and answer information questions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with an ILS, Alma preferred.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Library of Congress classification system, and one to three years of library experience required.

 

Schedule

This position is Tuesday through Friday, 7:30AM to 3:30PM. and Saturday, 8:30AM-4:30PM. Summer hours are Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 4:30PM. Occasional schedule deviations including holiday hours are required (at least one per semester) during the academic year based on departmental need.
