Workday Internship Training Program

This is an especially exciting opportunity, especially, but not exclusively, for anyone interested in CS and business.

Info session on Feb 17th (two, actually, at noon  and 3 pm)

What is Workday@College?
Workday@College is a selective internship training program for Simmons College students looking to gain Workday technical skills. They receive proprietary Workday training and use this training for an internship with (1) a Workday Services Alliance Partner or (2) a Workday customer. Our ultimate goal is to give these students the skills and experience to prepare them for gainful employment upon graduation. A second goal is to help customers and partners recruit talented Workday-trained employees.
How is a student selected to participate?
Simmons College student interns are selected by participating Workday customers and partners. Workday@College assists in the process by introducing the program through job fairs and information sessions. Workday@College also works to develop quality internship opportunities and facilitates the mutual selection process between interested students and participating companies.
Does the student pay for the training?
No. Customers and partners absorb any training costs for their interns.
What does the training entail?
Training is 120 total hours, with 80 hours online and 40 hours of in-classroom training. All training is led by a Workday instructor dedicated to the Workday@College program. Students will complete the first 40 hours of online training during the spring semester, followed by one week (40 hours) of in classroom learning on a local campus.
The summer internships start in early June and are typically eight (8) weeks in length. Interns will complete the remaining 40 hours of online training throughout their internship. At the end of the internship, Workday administers a configuration test for the students. This test provides an assessment of each student’s technical skill level.
How will the internship work?
Participating Workday customers and partners will employ and mentor Simmons College student interns on projects in the United States. This comprehensive internship program will provide each student with an experience that closely resembles life as a global business consultant. At the end of the internship, students will present an overview of their completed summer work projects. Each student’s overall performance will be evaluated for the real possibility of a full-time job offer upon graduation.
How many students have passed through the program to date?
In the summer of 2015–the inaugural year for the program–18 students from Broward College, Stevens Institute of Technology, and Barry University completed HCM training. Fourteen of the students went on to complete paid summer internships with Collaborative Solutions, DayNine, Deloitte, and Sierra-Cedar; four students returned to work at Broward and Stevens on Workday implementation projects. To date, 14 of this first group of students have been offered full-time jobs or extensions of their internships upon graduation.
